The Murdoch Family - Cornwall Park
Mum of two gorgeous wee kiddos, Sarah, contacted me just after we were out of lockdown. With everyone gathering for her son’s christening, she wanted to mark the occasion with beautiful photos of her extended family.
We decided on Cornwall Park as the location, one of my top ten photography spots in Auckland, year round. There’s a variety of lovely areas and it looks so different according to the season. Its central location is ideal if you have people coming from different locations - some of the Murdoch family were even flying in from the South Island and arrived straight from the airport!
After being separated from our families and friends during lockdown and the uncertainty of how COVID-19 will affect our future travel and ability to meet up, photographing extended family has an extra special place in my heart. I just love the interactions and little moments caught in between, especially of all of the cousins and grandparents.
The midday sun, which is often a challenge, provided the base for the soft and light images we created and fits so well with the colours and tones Sarah asked the family to wear. Although my lighting preference will always be to shoot early morning or late in the afternoon or evening, that isn’t always possible. These images are proof that I can create gorgeous photos for you any time of the day!
